How to Prepare Your Driveway for Sealing (Homeowner's Guide)
Five things every Barrie and Simcoe County homeowner can do the day before driveway sealing to get a sharper, longer-lasting finish.
A little prep = a much sharper finish
We handle the heavy prep — power-blow, edge, hot rubber crack fill, oil-stain treatment. But there are five things every homeowner can do the day before that genuinely improve the result.
1. Sweep loose debris
Pine needles, gravel, leaves — sweep them off. Less debris means cleaner edging and zero dust trapped in your finish.
2. Move planters, hoops, and bins
Anything sitting on the driveway needs to go. The further from the edges, the cleaner our edge boards land.
3. Trim grass along the edges
Long grass overhanging the asphalt makes sharp lines harder. A quick edge-trim helps a lot.
4. Disconnect sprinklers
Anything spraying on the driveway during cure ruins the seal. Disable timers for 24–48 hours.
5. Park elsewhere overnight
Move vehicles to the street or garage the night before — and plan for 24 hours off the driveway after sealing.
